Welcome to the 2nd Workshop on Low-Dimensional Structures: Properties and Applications

January, 31 - February, 1, 2008- Aveiro, Portugal

The Workshop will be held in Aveiro, a city located on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, about 60 km south of Oporto. The University of Aveiro has about 12,000 students, and the conference site is located in the Campus. Oral sessions will take place in Amphitheatre of the Rectoral Building having a standard equipment (PC, beamer, etc.). Poster session will take place in the hall of the Rectoral Building.

There are several bars/restaurants located within a few minutes walking distance, inside and next to the Campus.

The Oporto Airport is located relatively close to Aveiro. There are several daily flights to and from the major European Airports. The line E of metro connects the airport to the Campanhã Train Station (the Z4 ticket should be bought, the price amounts to € 1,85 as for December 2007). There are train connections from Oporto to Aveiro every hour. The travel time varies between 30 min and 60 min. The timetable for the express trains is available here. The ticket price for a suburbain trains amounts to € 2,00 (as for December 200) and € 9,00 - € 12,50 for an express train.

Alternatively, the Lisbon Airport can be used. The travel time by train is less than 2:30 hours, the ticket price varies between € 16,00 and € 24,00 as for December 2007.

The weather in Portugal by the end of January is unpredictable with an average day temperature of about 15 ^oC (59 ^oF) and an average night temperature of 5^oC(41 ^oF) (meteo.pt; weather.com). Rain and blue sky can follow many times a day.
