Main Objectives

 

  • Mitigate intra- and inter-channel nonlinear distortions in single-mode WDM transmission systems.

 

  • Develop nonlinear signal analysis tools for MIMO optical transmission systems based on few-mode fibers.

 

  • Develop nonlinear equalization algorithms to mitigate inter-modal nonlinearities in few-mode optical transmission systems.

 

  • Develop figures of merit to assess the performance/complexity tradeoff of digital nonlinear equalization;

 

  • Experimentally validate the developed algorithms and analytical tools by means of offline processing of experimental data.

 

  • Implement reduced-complexity nonlinear equalization algorithms in real-time, resorting to high-speed and flexible hardware platforms.
