Arnaldo Oliveira

Arnaldo Oliveira received the Ph.D. degree on Electrical Engineering in 2007 from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He also holds the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees, both on Electronics and Telecommunications, from the same university. He is currently a Senior Researcher at Telecommunications Institute – Aveiro. His research interests include reconfigurable digital systems and software defined radio. Since 2001 he teaches digital systems design, software defined radio, computer architecture, programming languages and embedded systems at the University of Aveiro, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. From 1997 to 2010 he worked as a Researcher on embedded systems at the Institute of Electronics Engineering and Telematics of Aveiro, Portugal. He participates in several national and European funded research projects. He is the author or co-author of more than 60 journal and international conference papers, a member of IEEE and several conference scientific committees.

Diogo Ribeiro

Diogo C. Ribeiro was born in Ferreira do Zêzere, Portugal in 1988. He received the M.Sc. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in December 2011 at Universidade de Aveiro. He is now a PhD student in the same university, since September 2012.

Mr. Ribeiro has as main interest software-defined radio measurement and nonlinear mixed-signal characterization. In 2012, he was recognized with the Best Student Paper Award 2012 at the 6.º Congresso do Comité Português da URSI.

Wonhoon Jang

Wonhoon Jang, received a B.S. degree in electronics from Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Korea in 1997 and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, USA in 2006. He is presently working as a post-doc at Instituto de Telecomunicaçôes, Aveiro, Portugal. From 1997 to 1999 he was with LG Precision Co., Kumi, Korea, where he developed military radios. From 2006 to 2008 he worked for Samsung Electronics Co. where he developed RF sections of mobile phones. His current research interests include RF front-ends of software defined radios and nonlinear RF/microwave system analysis and modeling.

Pedro Miguel Cruz

Pedro Miguel Cruz was born in Ovar, Portugal in 1982. He received a M.Sc. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (2008) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering (2012), both from Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal.

From Sept. 2006 to April 2007, he has worked at Portugal Telecom Inovação as a trainee in a project of localization systems based in wireless devices. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher with the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) being involved in the characterization and modeling of nonlinear distortion in software defined radio and cognitive radio front ends, as well as, high-speed data converters (A/D & D/A).

He is a reviewer for IET Electronics Letters and IEEE TCAS-II and co-authored more than 20 international and national papers including book chapters, journals and conferences. He has been recognized with the 3rd place in the GAAS Association PhD Student Fellowship for EuMIC 2009 (Rome, Italy)and was student paper finalist in the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium 2008 (Atlanta, GA).

Alírio Boaventura

Alírio Boaventura, Alírio Boaventura was born in Cabo Verde in 1985. He received the master degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in July 2009 from University of Aveiro – Portugal. From August 2008 to January 2010 he worked at Acronym – Informação e Tecnologia Lda – Portugal where he got involved with several R&D projects including industrial design and development of RFID systems and WSN integration. Currently he is a researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações – Universidade de Aveiro under the FCT project TACCS. His main research interests include Software Defined Radio, RFID, non-linear modeling and CAD.
