Armando N. Pinto is an Associate Professor in the Electronic, Telecommunications and Informatics Department of Aveiro University, where he has been teaching telecommunications related courses.

He is also a researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications.

His main research interests are on optical communication systems, mainly on nonlinear, polarization dependent and quantum effects in optical fibers.

He received his B.S. (1994) in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering and Ph.D. (1999) in Electrical Engineering, from Aveiro University.

He joined the Institute of Telecommunications in 1995, and the Electronic, Telecommunications and Informatics Department of Aveiro University in 1997.

During 2006 and 2007, he was a Visiting Professor in the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, USA;
