TTi Firmware Flash Update Utility. This program can be used to update the firmware on several TTi products over the USB interface connection. Before the firmware can be updated the instrument must be placed in a special mode that enables it to accept the update. Unless the instrument is placed in this mode it cannot be updated. To force update mode the instrument must be powered down for a few seconds and then powered up again whilst holding down the 'LAN RESET' button on the rear panel. At this point the instrument is waiting for an update from the PC via the USB connection. On a dual unit the output LED(s) will be flashing and an error message may be shown on the displays. This is normal; however, there is no visual indication on a single output instrument. The instrument should be connected to the PC with a USB cable. Windows will detect and install it but no driver is required. The Windows based update utility can now be run. This is a standalone program which does not need to be installed. Once loaded, click on the File menu and select 'Open' which will bring up a standard Windows file dialog box and then locate and select the firmware file. Clicking on 'Start Update' will begin the process and progress is indicated. If for any reason the update fails then the process can be repeated. On success the instrument will reset automatically and begin normal operation. At this point the instrument will return to its normal USB operation mode and request the driver if it hasn't previously been installed. Instrument calibration is not affected by this firmware update operation.
